so
limactl list
will show you all configs that are located in $LIMA_HOME, but that wouldn’t include the RD VM since that config is outside of that directory. Lima just orchestrates QEMU so you can see running instances in your Activity Monitor as qemu-system* processes. And the RD team made it easy to access the VM used for RD with
rdctl shell
. you could set LIMA_HOME to the RD path, but much easier to use rdctl

well there is only one VM so not like they have to switch between a bunch

The picture used during Lima talk by Jan Dubois shows 2 Lima VMs by the way 😉 This is why I was confused

i have only seen one VM in my usage and https://docs.rancherdesktop.io/references/architecture/ still seems to indicate 1, but maybe the team has a need for something more coming.

yeah Jan i think used that in a general Lima talk, but like he mentioned in that thread just one VM for RD.
