I just tried via rancher: edit -> then selecting a newer k8s version
it keeps cycling the "this cluster is currently upgrading" notification. My downstream clusters are still fine, but the Rancher UI goes down intermittently :(

No, you cannot upgrade the version of k3s embedded in the rancher/rancher image

If I already tried, should I revert to backup? Or perhaps just upgrading rancher the proper way will fix it?
nvm. I upgraded Rancher and I think that fixed it? Although, the version of the embedded k8s is still listed as the old version, even though the actual one in-place is new.
