I haven’t tested this yet, but my understanding is that with vSphere 7+ and RKE2+, the CSI out-of-tree provider is the only one supported. We are on vSphere 7, but using RKE1 clusters that were originally stood up in vSphere 6.7 - and we’re on the in-tree provider.
