Scaling to large number of workers is technically possible, there isn't a limit built into K3s. However, your going to need some fairly beefy server nodes with Nvme SSDs attached for fast etcd DB (may want to consider dedicated DB nodes) to handle that control-plane traffic for that many workers.

Kubernetes v1.25 supports clusters with up to 5000 nodes.
