For downstream, the official methods are using fleet and harvester so i doubt you would be able to do it with terraform from offcial methods, sadly. For upstream, there are no real official method beyond "make a rke2/k3s cluster in the first place"

I am actively working on this here: https://github.com/rancher/terraform-rancher2-aws

It is in early stages, but my goal is to generate production ready modules and examples that give users a jumpstart on achieving their goals.

Thank you for jumping in! This module is really new so I don't really expect anyone to know about it. It currently doesn't function, but I am working on a 0.2 release. My comment was more a "working on it" than a "this solution already exits" 😀

thanks matt and Rajo for pitching in. @bumpy-tomato-36167 @powerful-librarian-10572 I'm wondering if there is a way of using TF AND Ansible with underlying vmware as virtualisation layer to manage Rancher and downstream clusters RKE2. this includes creation of vms from template, pre-config, RKE2 deploy and few helm based applications. any advise or reference link is greatly appreciated. thanks

You're stacking technolgies instead of using builtin systems...
Isnt ansible redundant if you already have terraform? Also rancher supports directly installing a rke2 cluster onto a vsphere cluster
