i did some testing and it appears i'd have to heavily modify this to make it work

SUSE/Rancher doesn’t maintain the those tf modules. That falls on Rancher Government Solutions (RGS) aka rancher federal. Feel free to reach out to Jacob Blain Christen @ Jacob.Blain.Christen@ranchergovernment.com if you want to chat about this more.
