Harvester is supporting 3rd-party CSI for none-root disks of VM
Did you find some such CSI to meet your requirements?
b
We use ceph for what it's worth.
b
Yeah, probably heading in the direction of ceph here, though its complexity doesn’t exactly make me happy - do you host it in an external cluster or within the harvester cluster @bland-article-62755 ?
b
We have an external cluster. We have multiple ceph clusters in production for different uses that the team has a lot of experience with supporting so it was a pretty easy call for us to make. It for sure is more complicated than what you probably need, but once you start getting into HA things, the complexity always goes up.
I never used it for Harvester, but I have had experience with LinBit DRBD and linstor and if we weren't doing ceph I suspect that we might have ended up there.
Their support for DRBD was some of the best I've ever had from a vendor as far as the technical and customer support to quickly resolve issues. (Compared to lots of other vendors: vmware, redhat, citrix, microsoft, alfresco, etc..)

Ooh had not heard of them. Will certainly give that a whirl, excellent support sounds like it’ll let me sleep a whole lot better
