This may be more of a CAPI/provisioning question, but is there a good way to bootstrap an RKE2 cluster that can then be managed by Rancher installed on said cluster? We would like to use Rancher's provisioning agents for upgrades and snapshots for all the clusters including the local first cluster.

you cannot treat the Rancher local cluster as a Rancher provisioned cluster, sorry

What if I installed Rancher into docker, provisioned a cluster and then restored that docker Rancher on that cluster? Is that a supported path?

No it's not. You can try it but it's not tested or supported in any way

So I just added an
rkeConfig
section to the local
<http://clusters.provisioning.cattle.io|clusters.provisioning.cattle.io>
CRD and I think it works? Don't know if that's a good idea...
It would be great if there was something to support this though, but I know it's a bit awkward to manage something that the provisioning control plane is sitting on top of (something something pull out the rug from under you)
