Can you please share some more details about the issue? Which operating system are you on? Are you using the latest version of Rancher Desktop? It would help if you share the error screenshots, logs files etc.
p
here it is.. Its not opening
w
i would make sure that both VirtualMAchinePlatform feature is functional and that WSL2 is working (wsl --status)
gut says it isn’t RD, but one of the OS features
p
yes, i checked with both. Everything seems good.
w
can you provide some results from a status or list call in WSL. no details will make troubleshooting pretty tough. you can also look at the windows.application event log to see if there is anything
so podman is there so you may have a context issue. What about “wsl -l” and “wsl -v”
running all the docker things on there. 😉 Just keep an eye on your docker context
i don’t see a distribution for “rancher-desktop” just the “data” part. Something went bad on the install. I would try and Uninstall (possibly event manually delete the directories) and reinstall. you should have a rancher-desktop and a rancher-desktop-data distribution in your “-l” results
p
okay thanks @wide-mechanic-33041
But I did that many times(trying unistall and reinstalling again)
w
well without a rancher-desktop dist things won’t work. you may want to delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\rancher-desktop so that the VHDXs are re-impoerted
you could also try to manually import the one at %LOCALAPPDATA%\rancher-desktop\distro as “rancher-desktop” and see if things fix themselves
p
okay thankyou
r
@polite-engineer-47082, I hope you do not have other container apps such as Docker Desktop, Podman running in the background while you are trying to install Rancher Desktop! When you retry, please make sure you don't have those other apps running.
p
okay thankyou @rapid-eye-50641
