I'm using Rancher 2.7.0 integrated with vSphere
I noticed that the form to create a new cluster in vSphere with rke2/K3s is very different from RKE1
With RKE1, I'm able to use templates to create the VMs
On RKE2/K3s I must paste my Cloud Config YAML every time
Are there any plans to implement templates on RKE2/K3s? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

Hi Gabriel, WE are not using Rancher 2.7 but we are using 2.6.8 and RKE2 clusters under 2.6 are in the same situation. From what our TAM has told us is that there are no plans to have node templates for RKE2 clusters and that the solution is to use Terraform.
This is not a big deal for us as we use Terraform for a lot of other things, but I personally think this was pretty lame and short-sighted of Rancher/SuSE to not make node templates available as not everyone runs Terraform. 2.7 may introduce other ways, but I can’t say. I’d get in touch with your Rancher reps and grill them on this.
