My guess is that it doesn't like the mvnw script that you have.

Build issues, i.e. paketo issues ... Are hopefully something the paketo documentation can help with.

This is one of the major complaint I hear from those who dislike CF or any PaaS that uses buildpack or paketo. For my team, I only use one buildpack which is conda (python) and I use this to install other software that I need, eg: Java, elixir or npm. I bet it will work for maven too. One buildpack to rules them all - just configure environment.yml file. Another advantage to this is that we use conda for our local dev env too. If you need more info, let me know. Glad to help
