Since K3s was donated to the CNCF, it's a community thing and so its fate is decided by that community (and not necessarily by SUSE)

In my journey, and as I work to get certified again, I've decided to go with SUSE Leap 15.3 and RKE2. If the time comes I need support, the environment is all SUSE products.

K3S aims for small footprint, including ARM compatibility for edge devices that may be quite small. RKE2 aims for a bit more in the way of security and compliance for security regulations (which usually means more processing rather than less). So to me those look like very different use cases. If K3S dies it'd be if some other project comes along for better/easier lightweight and/or ARM support.

It's also worth noting that RKE2 is downstream (i.e based on) K3s
