I should mention that I was following these steps and it sounds like it should just work. But nothing is there. https://docs.harvesterhci.io/v1.1/vm/backup-restore#restore-a-new-vm-in-a-new-cluster

this is a known issue.. https://github.com/harvester/harvester/issues/3095 fix should be out shortly
are you please able to check that the error is the same in the harvester pod logs

Looks like it, thank you! I searched restore bugs and couldn't find this one.
I haven't tried a RC before. Is there an easy way to apply that update to test (and possibly revert)?
But I followed the airgap instructions (kinda) and ran kubectl create -f https://releases.rancher.com/harvester/v1.1.1-rc2/version.yaml And then chose the upgrade option in the web UI.
And it appears to be resolved in 1.1.1-rc2
