this may be the way to do.. you could use the new storage class for vm's

hmmmm, nothing available in paramaters when creating a new storageclass

like NOTHING

I tried adding the drive via host management and it mentioned force formatting so I took a chance and let it go for it. when I look at the host configuration now it shows that drive and says, "The disk has already been force-formatted. Current file system is ext4, You can format it manually."

maybe this is another case of just reinstalling and making sure I select the other disk for virtual machine storage.
