I see that Rancher OSv2 bundled Rancher Manger in some configurations: https://rancher.github.io/os2/#use-cases Any plans to pre-install Rancher on Elemental or must I do that myself?

Hi Chris. This has aged (looking into it). You should look at https://rancher.github.io/elemental/
if you don't want to take care to install / manage Rancher (Manager) there are options with an Hosted Rancher and AWS Marketplace appliance
otherwise you need to install Rancher Manager

We have chatted a little bit about providing an "all-in-one" image that would start k3s (and potentially set up Rancher) on boot but we need to get more input on what the use-case is before we can add it to a roadmap. Would you mind opening an issue in https://github.com/rancher/elemental/issues with some more details about what you are trying to achieve? This would help us understand what needs to be built.

Think an issue is necessary? I just thought it would be convenient to not have to configure Rancher myself if it could just be bundled w/ the image

there are many possibilities (vm, metal, clouds, etc...)
a quick getting started is a one node K3s (one line) and standard helm install of Rancher (2/3 lines) (not production recommended though)
there is also Rancher in civo marketplace

I haven't used RancherOS v2, since it seems like Elemental replaces it. Perhaps there were limitations of that previous "light" Rancher install (e.g. not production recommended)
I think it's fine to install Rancher myself, or use the several cloud/hosted solutions as you suggested. It just seemed like a nice feature that I couldn't find in the docs anymore

Yes, Elemental replaces os2 (as well as RancherOS and k3os). We should have added redirects from the older projects when we made the switch but that got overlooked.

Yeah, really need some redirects. It took me a while to realize all those were deprecated
