Hi All, I had downloaded the 1.8.2 iso, and had upgraded a 1.8.0 cluster successfully. I just blew that cluster away and started again. With that iso though on a fresh install it only installs 1.8.0, and then i have to run the upgrade with the same iso to get it to 1.8.2 . Is that normal? We are just starting with Harvester, so in learning mode.
t
by chance are you booting/installed from PXE? DId you update the yaml to point to the new iso version? I have done this once… 😄
l
hah not in this case , i am having to attach as a virtual cd via idrac, and i just keep it attached and then upgrade afterwards...so :/
t
ah. you should look into pxe. 😄
l
shall do...

Love your vids, watch them a lot will take a look. I've been wrangling with harvester all day, do you run it for container loads as well as vms?
t
just vms. I have 2 single nodes clusters here. 1 is my infra, truenas and a vm to boot PXE. then the other is the homelab playground.
l
nice... trying to move off vmware, mix of containers and vms, networking stuff does my head in
with multus, calico, and flannel...
t
right now running pods/containers in vms is an easy to keep things logicaly separated. and for me truenas has the 3 apps I use for infra, plex, adguard, and tailscale.
l
yeah ... that's what we currently do in prod, I was just really keen to get native as close to the baremetal etc... sure will get it eventually....
t
Suse still doesn’t fully recommend it. do you pull done the kubeconfig from harvester to them run helm?
l
yeah its going GA 1.9, so i thought id start getting ready for it and try it out
no im using flux gitops, and just pushing them that way
t
oh cool. didn’t hear about 1.9 yet.. flux makes things easy.
l
yeah i like its simplicity
