is it save to add a new node with 1.8.1 to a 1.8.0 cluster or what would be the process?
t
Nodes in the cluster should all be the same version. And 1.8.0 is not stable. 1.8.1 or better!
w
so upgrade 1.8.0 nodes first, then add new node ?
its "prod" so i need to be very careful upgrading....
and when upgrading, start with secondary nodes or primary ?
t
Yup
You upgrade in the gui. And it will upgrade all the nodes in sequence.
w
finally - will upgrade force a restart all VM's event ?
t
Yes.

solid weekend job then
and possibly wait for 1.8.2 🙂
also the UI does not find/suggest upgrading for some reason....
t
v1.8.2 is out!

You can upgrade by hitting the tilda (~) key and bringing up a console. Then
kubectl apply -f <https://releases.rancher.com/harvester/v1.8.2/version.yaml|releases.rancher.com/harvester/v1.8.2/version.yaml>

1.7.3 AND 1.8.2 are both out!
b
When I checked the milestone this morning it hadn't been, but the docs were merged/approved yesterday.
t
github says they are both out. and I upgraded this morning from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2 with zero issues.
b
I started one, but it hasn't finished yet.
