Hi guys, I'm using Harvester in a POC to see how it works. We've got quite the setup at this moment. I'm trying to add a SAN on the Harvester dashboard through the iPXE create script to be able to reach it with a domain name we specify. It doesn't seem to get processed on the dashboard. The internal secret harvester kube api server does seem the have it, so it does get processed in that way, which I don't require. Does anyone have some tips how I can get the SAN working on the dashboard? Thanks!!
Upon some further inspection with an LLM I was able to find that the sans: option in the create script does not add it to the dashboard certificate but the the kube-apiserver. The language for this does not reflect what it seems to do, which seems to be add it to the dashboard. Am I correct in this?

Do you mean to add an external SAN as the additional disk docs.harvesterhci.io/v1.8/host#…?
g
No I mean in the https certificate
t
simply create the certificate externally and apply it in the gui. under the settings page.
SAN = Subject Alternative Name

My goal is to bootstrap and configure it from scratch with Terraform after iPXE configuration. I can't do that sadly cause after bootstrap it doesn't configure. I have figured out how to do it now though with some ifconfig magic
t
Why not add it to the ipxe install config : docs.harvesterhci.io/v1.8/install/harvester-configuration#… ?
g
Well thats what I did, but didn't work. It only adds it on the kube api server certificate. I describe that in the beginning
t
ok second option is to load an external cert?
g
Thats true but I'm not in a position do so at the moment. I have fixed this another way 🙂. Thanks for the help though!
