That seems to be the case. I just don't understand how I'm supposed to install the management server as a separate entity from the other cluster.
I see, so the management server is actually rancher itself installed through helm. That's what i was a little bit confused about, because I had already installed rke2. It works now.

If you already have rke2 installed, you'd import the cluster to Rancher. If you're setting up a new cluster, you just need the plain servers, create a new cluster in Rancher Cluster Management, then run the Registration Command from Rancher Cluster Management on the servers, with the flags on the command stating that the server you're running it on is either etcd, control plane or worker (or any mix of those). All the required software for the server will be installed by the Registration Command. Yes, you've already worked it all out, but I didn't want you to think you were just talking to yourself.

But, yeah, I often talk to myself, I rarely expect an active community and when there is one, it is kind of a privilege 😄
Exposing and explaining a problem and taking it apart goes a long way towards actually solving it, so that's already something.
