Hi everyone,
I’d like to share an interesting update for anyone working with labs, POCs, or test environments.
Amazon Web Services now supports
nested virtualization, which opens up some very useful scenarios for building flexible infrastructure directly in the cloud.
Thanks to this, it’s now possible to run
Harvester Cloud on AWS and create fully virtualized environments without needing on-prem hardware.
Why this matters
• You can quickly spin up
labs and test environments
• Perfect for
proof of concept (POC) activities
• Fully
on-demand and scalable, with no hardware constraints
From a technical perspective, AWS enables high-performance configurations using
GP3 storage (up to 2000 MB/s throughput and 16,000 IOPS). This makes a noticeable difference, especially compared to similar offerings from other cloud providers.
For example, running Harvester Cloud on AWS now allows you to:
• Deploy
Windows VMs
• Experience significantly faster
Terraform deployments
• Benefit from overall improved performance thanks to higher disk throughput and IOPS
Important note
At the moment, AWS works only with our certified image (
openSUSE Leap 15.6), since there is no official openSUSE image available on AWS.
No action is required from your side — the release image is already configured as the default for EC2.
