Longhorn volumes are also RWO only, and live migration is working. You can override things somewhere in the depths of CDI. You might want to try that (without warranty 🙂 )

I thought longhorn volumes are RWX?

They are RWO by default (it's iSCSI under the hood). They can be RWX in addition, then the NFS backend will be configured. But it's configured in a very weird way which is almost unusable in production.
