Hello. I have an application to install with a minio instance, CNPG cluster, and some DNS changes. Is it recommended to install this directly on the Harvester cluster? I know Harvester is just rke2 so I should be able to, though I'm a bit wary of installing so many new things on such a "complete" system as Harvester.
t
You can install minio directly on Harvester. Make sure you use a StorageClass for the persistent data. You may want to consider running it in a VM for a little more control.
p
Hmm, okay, I see. So most of the workloads can go directly on Harvest but maybe the database and minio can go in VMs?
t
it is really about how you want to manage the app.
p
I had been toying with the idea of running K3k within Harvester for a certain level of isolation, and because I get to share the storageclass and ingressclass from Harvester
Either way, thank you for your opinions, they are very helpful!
t
i would not run k3k on harvester. just put the workloads in a vm. ๐Ÿ˜„
p
Oookaaay
Thank you ๐Ÿ˜
t
I would run k3s on a vm.
any time
p
I take it you wouldn't run k3k on Harvester because it isn't that mature yet?
t
and you can achieve the same thing with a VM.
p
With a lil bit of overhead... But yeah, alright, thank you!
p
if a lil bit of overhead is a problem, why run harvester in the first place?
t
good point
p
Yes yes! I was just trying to make a bit of a lighthearted comment, nothing serious ๐Ÿ˜…
