Hi All, need some directions with fresh (v1.5.0) Harvester install. My VM got stuck in 'starting' state, so I checked the virt-handler-xxxx log (registry.suse.com/suse/sles/15.6/virt-launcher:1.4.0-150600.5.15.1) and it shows this exact error: https://github.com/kubevirt/kubevirt/issues/14064 but, how do I upgrade (or downgrade it to 1.3.1) kubevirt? Or is there anything else that can be done?

I can provide any info you need to investigate it, including ssh access to the Harvester node. Let me know..

Hi @brash-petabyte-67855, I checked the above and it is the known issue as you mentioned. We are looking for a workaround. I will share here once we have any updates.

Hi @salmon-city-57654 does the new v1.5.1 release includes the fix?
I tried to upgrade to v1.5.1 anyway and the upgrade is stuck on the kubevirt loop crash. Does upgrade needs a VM creation? @salmon-city-57654 please clarify and advise about what is the plan for kubevirt version upgrade. Should I reinstall the Harvester from scratch vs trying upgrading it?
Looks like @salmon-city-57654 is on vacation, is there anybody else who can clarify the kubevirt situation and the path forward?

i tried sevaral, ubuntu was one of them for sure

the problem is the kubevirt needs upgrade, there is a bug there

for 1.5.1 did you do a clean install or upgrade?

tried upgrade and it failed (same reason), can try clean install but wanted to make sure kubevirt version is bumped (not to waste time)

sorry I misspoke. kubevirt is still 1.4.0 in 1.5.0 and 1.5.1
I would try a clean install anyway.
there was a lot fixed.

Going to wait for kubevirt v1.5.1 (I can bet it will fail on the same thing), thanks for clarifying the current version Andy (i totally missed it), appreciate it!

https://github.com/harvester/harvester/issues/8348 sounds like 1.6.0 may get specific backported kubevirt patch

Sorry for the late reply. We will bump the kubevirt v1.5.2 on Harvester v1.6.0

BTW, we have a workaround by reconfiguring the NUMA. Please check the comment https://github.com/harvester/harvester/issues/8182#issuecomment-2989486925
