hello, We have rancher installed on rke1, k8s version 1.27.x atm rancher installed is 2.8.5 and we're planning on upgrading to 2.9.3 from stable but we have 12 rke2 clusters in that rancher that are still on 1.26.x In docs it says that 2.9.x suports rke2 version 1.27.16 and up. will that mean that i won't be able to manage rke2 clusters that are v1.26.x? or is that only for clusters where rancher is installed on?
h
From past experience, you can still manage them When you edit the cluster they will show kubernetes version as deprecated Once you upgrade your rancher you should upgrade the RKE2 clusters also...
g
nice, thanks!
I will plan the upgrade
but yeah plan to upgrade to upgrade to 2.9 to push some of the clusters to 1.29
h
If I remember correctly for Kubernetes anything n-2 is EOL... so anything older than 1.29 https://kubernetes.io/releases/patch-releases/#support-period Latest Rancher version is 2.10.2 but it does not support RKE2 1.32 yet..
g
I upgraded rancher and one of the rke2 clusters from 1.26 to 1.30.8 using automated upgrader without any issues. Thanks for the help @hundreds-evening-84071
