q
i can still do upgrades via yaml but wonder how this dropdown filter works
f
maybe for @busy-ability-54059
does the cluster show in the Rancher dashboard?
b
@quaint-airline-20784, the targetable clusters are Elemental clusters that haven’t been targeted yet. If you have created Elemental clusters, but used them all as targets, then you’ll need to create a new one
q
so after one upgrade i can not do another one using the ui?
b
not with the same cluster as target… But those were requirements that were passed to me while developing the UI (if I am not wrong 😅 ) @sticky-tailor-45974 @hundreds-plastic-1769 any additional inputs?
f
You can keep updating the same ManagedOSImage with a newer image to upgrade to. Is this not possible from the UI?
b
Yes. You just edit that resource. In creation mode, you can target what hasn't been targeted yet
f
I meant you should not create a new update group to target the same cluster with a new update, you can simply edit the image in the existing group that is already targeting the cluster. Targeting the same cluster with different update groups will lead to concurrent upgrades being run on nodes, which is not desirable
b
exactly
q
ok, so i should always use the same ManagedOSImage manifest when i want to upgrade a cluster and just change osImage?
f
yes indeed, you don't need to delete and re-create it for each upgrade, just leave it be and Elemental will try to reconcile the desired image version, or do nothing if all targeted nodes are already up to date
