I haven't developed a node driver myself, but based on the documentation here: https://ranchermanager.docs.rancher.com/how-to-guides/new-user-guides/authentication-permissions-and-global-configuration/about-provisioning-drivers/manage-node-drivers#developing-your-own-node-drivers, it seems that using Rancher Machine might be a good starting point. According to the section Developing Your Own Node Drivers, Rancher Machine is a fork of Docker Machine, which is no longer under active development. The recommendation is to refer to the original Docker Machine documentation as a foundation for developing your own node drivers.
