As you saw, all your servers need to be on the same local network, not just connected over tailscale. Add the other nodes as agents.

In that case, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of running tailscale along with k3s? If it is not able to establish the communications over the tailscale mesh network then what is tailscale doing here?

Why would it be any less useful if only the agents are distributed across different locations? Etcd is NOT designed to be geographically distributed. That's the only part you need to have on the same local network.

Oh! So the control plane nodes need to be on the same network but the agent nodes can be distributed across cloud environment ? Got it. Makes sense!
