Hello there. The MachineRegistration cloud-config does not support yip syntax yet. This is a new feature introduced in the upcoming version

v1.6.x

of the operator. Anyhow, the config coming from the registration is only installed in the system, but not evaluated during install/reset stages, so as you mentioned the only way right now is to make your custom build and add your configs to

/system/oem

so that they will be evaluated in the

after-install*

and

after-reset*

stages.
