KDM (Kontainer Driver Metadata) is the version dependency mechanism that Rancher uses. Things like, "this version of RKE1 needs these charts with these versions". This can be updated outside of the release cycle of the Rancher product. So, it sounds like they are going to release a version of CSI chart and update KDM so Rancher users can benefit.
