looks like a bad install. I would try and reinstall as I don't think a factory reset will make those distros come back. assuming WSL is working fine using other distros?

Thanks for the reply Yes, I also had an Ubuntu distro, which was working fine itself After a bit more searching, I came accross https://github.com/rancher-sandbox/rancher-desktop/issues/3785#issuecomment-1409332839, and tried the suggestion of removing the Ubuntu distro(s), then followed by a factory reset of Rancher using rdtcl, which seems to have solved the issue with Rancher starting up I don't really need the Ubuntu distro, so I guess that's alright. Though it would be nice to have it. Perhaps if I try re-installing it now I will be ok?

were you using wsl-vpnkit to work around VPN issues? And i thought that was more when it tried enumerating for the integration feature. not sure why that would prevent the data distro from loading. My gut says the factory process restored the distro, but why it wasn't there in the first place is a bit of a mystery

As far as I know, I'm not using wsl-vpnkit I'm stable for now, so I'll probably leave my investigation here for the moment; but I know some others have encountered similar issues, so I'll keep an eye out for if it happens again, and try just the factory reset independently to see if that is all that is required Also, once I've finished what I'm currently doing, I'll look to try reinstalling Ubuntu and see if that has any impact Thanks for the help!
