Harvester has an immutable OS integrated, after installation, the OS is installed. You can't change OS.
s
I hope the Harvester can be removed from Elemental for SLE Micro 5.3 and installed on other operating systems
a
That's not the design purpose at the moment.
s
I want Harvester to be similar to k8s and be able to be deployed on any operating system so that Harvester is more flexible
a
For security, system upgrade ..., Harvester is not able to cover all OSs for business customers.
a
I could be mistaken but I think Harvester is built using the elemental toolkit with SLE Micro as it's base. In theory this means you could use Elemental to build Harvester ontop of a different base OS as long as it provides the same features. This would probably be a fair amount of work but I'd suggest taking a look at the Harvester and elemental-toolkit repos in GitHub if you're curious.

it would also mean that you'd lose support from SUSE which personally speaking is worth an awful lot!

That too!! 😳
