Hello every1 🙂 Quick question… Running Rancher Desktop and KIND kubernetes setup on Intel Mac … Network was tweaked by adding
/etc/docker/daemon.json
into LIMA machine for
10.100.0.0/16
subnet for conflicts handling… I’m trying to configure local setup with MetalLB and dnsmasq, however accessing “docker nodes” is impossible due to network setup. Docker Desktop allowed using docker-mac-net-connect for bridging host and docker node network and allowing access. This approach doesn’t work with Rancher Desktop, host is unable to access nodes or LB IP, however accessing from LIMA machine ( internally ) works without issues. Anyone has some reference or idea how to get around this ? Thanks in advance 🙂

You're going way past what we can support — RD isn't meant as a generic VM launching thing 😄 However, if you enter the root password when prompted, it should set up a secondary interface that DHCPs on your local network; your host machine should be able to contact anything via that address, I think (provided your LB is using that interface). Does that sound somewhat helpful?

Yeah, I know i’m kinda pushing it 🙂 However this turned out to be amazing setup for production like local environment. ( multi node, dns resolve with wildcard domain, HA , etc ) Let me look up available interfaces and give it a shot 🙂
seems like I’m not very good at finding my way around that… should I be tackling
vde_vmnet
first to bypass SLIRP limitation ?
Forgot to mention RD has all permissions ( sudo ) but I’m unable to figure out which interface has full net access… or maybe it just doesn’t have access…
