Im using vcluster. Its packaged vanilla k3s image. Did you give it a try ?

No, still exploring the potential options. iirc vcluster runs workloads as pods in the host cluster. I'd prefer a solution that runs workloads as pods inside other pods (if that makes sense)

yes, vcluster workload are pods in a ns in the host cluster. Not sure for pods in pods. The closest in my mind would be Kubevirt (vm managed as pods)

alternative might be kamaji with CAPI kubevirt (control plane consolidated as pods, worker nodes isolated as vms)

your running k3s cluster as a pod inside k8s. thats nuts. why do you want to do this?
