Is this "new machine" a worker node on that same cluster?

It's a VM that will have to be move to another physical. machine ...
For the Rancher-created cluster nodes there is a "Drain" button in the Rancher UI. But not for the local cluster given that it's not created by Rancher.

Yep, thanks. That's what I meant which "kubectl drain" 🙂

during OS maintenance - I have never drain'ed rancher-local cluster node I just do a reboot but I guess it probably is wise to do drain

I thought the same. "Usually" I wouldn't but want to get some proper policy/process going ...
