Hi, I have a question regarding Rancher RKE2 and its behavior with OpenStack as the cloud driver. When I delete a cluster managed by Rancher, it only removes the cluster at the Rancher level but does not delete the associated VMs in OpenStack. Is this behavior normal? I was expecting that deleting the cluster through Rancher would also remove the VMs associated with it. Any insights or suggestions on how to ensure the VMs are deleted along with the cluster?

Are your vms being created by rancher/openstack cloud provider?
a
yes, the VMs are indeed created using the openstack cloud provider. Interestingly, when I was using rancher version 2.6.4, deleting the cluster through rancher would also delete the associated VMs. However, after upgrading to rancher 2.8, this functionality no longer works as expected.

Gotcha interesting. I believe I wasn't able to get the openstack cloud provider working on the latest version of rancher with an rke2 cluster. I believe I was successfully able to use a node pool tho. I think... It's been a while

I currently use rke2 cluster creation on a daily basis, utilizing openstack as the cloud provider. The only issue I encounter is that when I delete the cluster, the VMs do not get removed from openstack
