Hi @nice-pillow-92478, from the installation doc https://docs.harvesterhci.io/v1.3/install/index I am not sure we can install into an existing bare-metal kubernetes cluster by helm chart. (Actually, I never tried it) Could you share where you find this information? cc @prehistoric-balloon-31801 to check if I am wrong with the installation.

that last link is from 2021. i'm pretty sure the helm chart was deprecated shortly after that. you'll want to install on bare metal via the iso.

@better-garage-30620 I see. Thanks for confirming.

I might try it out. Though it is a devel mode deployment so I guess not much luck for me πŸ™‚

Harvester is ISO install onto bare metal only (though could use a VM if enough resources)

Thanks @nice-pillow-92478, We will check again and update the document if needed.

does this mean that I can have my own k8s/k3s cluster on an OS of my choosing (say Debian) and deploy Harvester there? Many thanks.
@nice-pillow-92478 the short answer is no. Harvester is highly coupled with underlying components. There are many features tied to RKE2/elemental-managed OS. The dev mode is merely a guide for developers to test. Most of us are now using the ISO path. There is provisioning work done outside of the helm chart.
