You probably have a new terminal without
LIMA_HOME
set this time? Or you did a factory reset (deleting the created VM) first?
b
Hi mate. Yeah I did a factory reset to try to start again. I have restored from my snapshot but it still won’t let me in even after repeating your instructions yesterday. •
export LIMA_HOME=/Users/paulrandall/.rdlima/
export PATH="$PATH:/Applications/Rancher <http://Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/resources/darwin/lima/bin|Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/resources/darwin/lima/bin>"
"/Applications/Rancher <http://Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/resources/darwin/lima/bin/limactl.ventura|Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/resources/darwin/lima/bin/limactl.ventura>" start 0
• (wait for things to happen) •
"/Applications/Rancher <http://Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/resources/darwin/lima/bin/limactl.ventura|Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/resources/darwin/lima/bin/limactl.ventura>" shell 0
/usr/bin/c_rehash -v /etc/ssl/certs
(Added the second line with
export PATH
)
I rebuilt the three page website that took me three days in about five hours today. So I’ve been guzzling coffee like crazy!
So do I need to re-create the VM? And why does it still throw that error even after restoring the snapshot? If I do need to re-create the VM how is that done? 🙂
p
You should be able to re-create the VM via doing a factory reset.

Then do the commands above now change somewhat? Because I can’t get in with them after the factory reset I did a couple of days ago and I can’t get in with them if I load from the snapshot I took when we were having our long session trying to fix it? After I load from the snapshot it comes back to the exiting with a code 1 scenario as expected so I then quit the RD GUI application and try to get into the VM with those commands but I get the new error that says it can’t find that file. Then after I move the snapshot file out of its directory and do a factory reset it boots into RD property and docker works again but with no volumes (obviously) and I again quit the RD GUI application and try those commands again and still I get no success. Same missing file error. It’s frustrating because I’m not so confident with the VM part of the technology. You got me in once and I’m grateful but I just want to get in again after I restore from the snapshot then like you suggested delete the certificates and see if a reboot of RD or the whole Mac and then RD re creates the certs. I’m not quite as desperate to do it so quickly now I’ve rebuilt the website I was working on so if you could have a think about why, after the snapshot restore I can’t get back in I would appreciate it?
