Canal/calico is the default for rke2 (which one depends on if it's standalone or rancher provisioned). You can see the available CNI options here: https://docs.rke2.io/install/network_options#install-a-cni-plugin

RKE2 itself is not complicated. I would migrate and look at something like Cilium, which can be your entire network stack solution not just CNI pod networking. The complication comes in learning everything it can do ( Cilium)
