Is this a recent regression? (of what? qemu?)
There has been a single report against Lima from a user experiencing the same on macOS using VZ with
virtiofs
.
Wasn't this fixed? https://github.com/lima-vm/lima/pull/2026

Maybe, I was referring to Lost files on host when canceling limactl start · Issue #2221 · lima-vm/lima, which was filed 2 weeks ago
Unfortunately doesn't include the Lima version 😞
b
ah, the new issue is about removal of the files on the host 👀
The issue does not happen for read-only mounts, right?
f
Yes, and for @proud-jewelry-46860's Linux test the
$HOME
was mounted writable, so the complete home directory was lost. Thankfully that was just a test VM
Unknown; in Rancher Desktop we always mount writable. We could test tomorrow if it also happens with readonly mounts.
The issue did not happen with
examples/experimental/virtiofs-linux.yaml
, but I need to double-check if @proud-jewelry-46860 made the mounts writable before running the test
We have also not yet duplicated the issue with 1.12.3, but I wanted to get the warning out as soon as I was aware that data on the host was being lost.
