And longhorn is fully talos compliant in v1.6.0?
f
it has talos support. I'm not sure yet what that means - IIRC longhorn was switching to non-iscsi in 1.6.0 but https://github.com/longhorn/longhorn/issues/3161 is closed pending release so I trust them 🙂
l
If I understand the talos project correctly in regards to why it wasn’t supporting longhorn before is exactly because of these iscsi calls … from a security perspective. Exciting!
f
I think there were other binaries missing too, and now longhorn works with just those two addons directly from sidero.
but as there's no upgrade to/from
-rc
releases, I cannot confirm.
l
Yeah I’m also waiting on the RTM version of longhorn
f
yeah, apparently not in 1.6.0 for talos 😞
l
So now you’re saying that v1.6.0 of Longhorn will not fully support Talos?
f
https://github.com/longhorn/longhorn/issues/3161 is closed - https://deploy-preview-827--longhornio.netlify.app/docs/1.6.0/advanced-resources/os-distro-specific/talos-linux-support/ is the snapshot of the website that will be released. On there it says :
Limitations
• Exclusive to v1 data volume: currently, within a Talos Linux cluster, Longhorn only supports v1 data volume. The v2 data volume isn’t currently supported in this environment.
l
I believe that the v2 datavolume is the one giving us SPDK related performance features.
So I’m okay with that coming later.
