make sure you buy raspberry pi 5s, because 4 has power/controller issues for usb-attached ssds

I eventually gave up on 4s and run some old mac minis instead, which is its own can of worms, but at least I get stable storage for etcd πŸ™‚

I have a cluster of 6 rpis, 2 3Bs, 2 3B+s and 2 4Bs with 2GB ram. The most important thing I would recommend is to get "high mem" variants. 1GB of RAM on a node is thight.

I'm ready to burn my tax return
I almost bought 12 4Bs here with 8GB each, but then I realized that I need PSUs, coolers, cases, sd cards etc, what's the minimum list of things I need one of each?
I mean the guy in the video did exactly what I want, he even has a rack 😱
thanks everybody for the hints!!
all hints are welcome πŸ™

I just have a 6 way USB power block that delivers 2.4A to all 6 pis. They occationally complain about undervoltage, so you should probably have something more powerful, especially for the more power hungry 4s. Mine are stacked in simple 3D-printed mounts on a shelf, but it's good to spread them out a little to distribute the warmth. Fans or a proper rack might be a good idea if you have the budget.
