We use Velero … I wouldn’t consider the Longhorn system backup options as a full fledged backup system. It’s a really nice solution for certain things e.g. to take before one updates Kubernetes, the cluster in other ways and so on. However, it does not come with all the bells and whistles as one would need when the aim is to do proper disaster and recovery/data protection.

Look at Velero or Kasten

Thanks a lot! Do you have any best practice for Velero with Longhorn? I've found this one: https://github.com/longhorn/longhorn/discussions/3731#discussioncomment-2330133

@nice-tent-65195 Would you like to create a feature ticket at Longhorn for filesystem layer backup to improve the situation that you encountered?
n
I don't know how much code change it would require. But it would be a useful feature.
a
Yeah, we can track this useful feature by creating the ticket.

Please post the issue here @nice-tent-65195 when you created it. I’m keen on tracking it

Thanks, guys! I've opened the issue: https://github.com/longhorn/longhorn/issues/7370
