I do not know if that is possible. But, what you can test is run Rancher in HA with n-nodes in site-A and m-nodes in site-B. You need odd number of nodes. What loadbalancer option do you have?

we don't have a stretch k8s cluster so I can't deploy rancher nodes across multiple k8s cluster (perhaps i didn't understand what 'n-nodes in site-A and m-nodes in site-B'). also lb is per k8s cluster
also, i think about the backup-restore option as a last resort but it seems to have some limitations like registration URL should be the same
