Thank you. It seems like my issue is a combo of the above. Maybe it's just me, but needing to remember to backup the base images via separate means seems odd. When I make a backup of a VM, I'm expecting that VM to be backed up. I'll try to regenerate the image with the same ID using the step described above. I hope I can find the right base image version.
