Make sure your bios and other firmware is up to date. This sounds more like a system problem. Also you could try to install, shutdown, remove usb, then boot. And one other thing, are you making sure to use the 1.2-patch-1 pinned to the top of the channel?

i did the install shut down remove usb and it seemed to do the trick. odd though. thanks!

I would be highly suspect of firmware or bios.
