In addition this service and timer are not enabled by default on the image per se. They are started based on a cloud config criteria here https://github.com/rancher/elemental/tree/main/framework/files/system/oem On live mode the timer does not take place and only the service is started. On installed hosts the timer is started instead, which will trigger the register service on boot and at every 30min
