at section 1 of the rancher docs you linked, you'll see it lists out a few different charts, rancher-latest, rancher-stable, rancher-alpha. thats what you have to pick from
You might re-read that page from the top

and keep in mind that some places you’re expected to fill in your desired values and not just blindly copy-paste things.
w
I have still doesnt help. I have no idea what values I desire
c
as Cal said, in that section you were asked to pick from rancher-latest, rancher-stable, or rancher-alpha. The command says
rancher-<CHART_REPO>
- so the latest, stable, or alpha repo name that you added in that step. Which one did you do?
w
ah ok so rancher-latest "chart-repo" is a foreign language for me
TY
c
you’re supposed to read it as a placeholder for the “chart repo” that you added in the prior step
w
well I didnt understand that
c
I think that’s a pretty common convention in technical docs. Wherever you see
<EXAMPLE>
you’re expected to replace that with an actual value specific to what you’re doing. The context and prior steps will usually suggest what that might be.

I assume Ive installed a too new kubernetes? "Error: INSTALLATION FAILED: chart requires kubeVersion: < 1.27.0-0 which is incompatible with Kubernetes v1.28.0"
c
yep

If I build a second kubernetes cluster on 1.26 for Rancher can Rancher control 1.28?
m
in general yes, we have 1.27 clusters in rancher (via terraform rke2) whereas the supported version is only 1.26.
