if you provision a cluster via Rancher, you need to manage the registries config for that cluster through the rancher UI. The agent will restore the registries configuration to whatever you configured in Rancher, overwriting whatever you did by hand on the node.

where do I do that in rancher? I’ve seen the docs for the system images config but not the others

there’s a whole registries section in the cluster config

OK, I see that - the only way to get to the Mirrors section it to check the

Enable cluster scoped container registry for Rancher system container images

and then open the

Advanced

. I don’t want to change the system image registry - is this just a UI mismatched expectations thing?

You should be able to configure mirrors without having to configure the other system container images stuff

I’ll give that a shot - thanks for the help! I didn’t dive into that section since it seemed system image related
