2nd node needs to connect to the vip.. i hope the node1 is routable from node2?

and you are using the same versions on both nodes

Many thanks for your response. I went back and rebuilt the cluster without bonding and using Static addresses and the node has joined.

I will need to get the bonding working, but I can do without it for now
