Are you connected to the internet? The first time you run Rancher Desktop you need an internet connection so that it can download the version of k8s that you have selected. You can work offline after this, but you need internet initially

Thanks Adam. My laptop is connected to wifi, not sure why it prompted this. Anyway I reinstalled rancher and it automatically picked up my previous settings and images. Seems to work now.
